From the very beginning, Canada paved the way as the first country in the America’s zone to embrace powerchair soccer (aka powerchair football). It all began in the late 1970s in British Columbia, where athletes lighted a spark that would ignite into the fiery sport it is today.

Quebec

In the new millennium, Québec emerged as a powerhouse, breathing fresh life into the sport. The clash between British Columbia and Québec set the stage for the thrilling first national tournament in 2011, showcasing the fierce competition and unwavering passion of the athletes.

Alberta

With the arrival of Alberta in the early 2010s the excitement reached even greater heights. This triumphant trio of provinces united, showcasing the true spirit and tenacity of Canadian powerchair soccer. Together, they formed the backbone of this exhilarating sport, each province contributing its unique flair to the game.

New Brunswick

By 2015, Powerchair Soccer was spreading all across Canada, finally reaching the east coast. Starting as a recreational competition, New Brunswick’s addition signals the beginning of a new era in Powerchair Soccer. And one where competition has never been fiercer.

Nova Scotia

In 2023, Nova Scotia stormed into the Canadian Powerchair Soccer arena leaving an electrifying mark. As the freshest addition to this exhilarating legacy, Nova Scotia’s athletes have unleashed an unstoppable wave of enthusiasm that’s sweeping across the field.

Canada has competitive clubs across five provinces where athletes with disabilities find competition, community, and confidence. Our mission is to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to learn and practice a sport while bonding with other athletes. We have a balanced focus on growing the sport on every level, from local recreational activity up to the international competitive level.
